MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC42 Review and Swatches

Hey Everyone!

MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation

MAC can be very overwhelming when you first walk-in their store! The same happened with me as well and my first ever purchase from MAC was their 217 brush and Select Moisture Cover Up concealer! I went to check out their paint pots and Studio Fix Powder but came out with completely different things. This happens quite a lot with me..sounds familiar?

Almost a year after my first MAC purchase I finally decided to get their Studio Fix Powder and I am in the shade NC42 which matches my skin pretty good.

MAC Studio Fix Powder NC42

Having combination to oily skin I was looking out for a powder which would give good coverage since I don't use a foundation on everyday basis and Studio Fix Powder fits the bill perfectly!

MAC Studio Fix Powder is not a compact but a powder foundation which gives medium to full coverage depending on how you apply it. For office goers like me this comes in rather handy especially when you are running late for office in early mornings!

MAC Studio Fix Powder comes in classic black MAC packaging and contains 15g of product. It also comes with a sponge applicator and a mirror which comes in handy for touch ups in office or while travelling.

The powder is finely milled and has no fragrance whatsoever. It gives medium to high coverage and covers light acne spots well. If you have deep rooted scars it won't cover them. It even's out the skin tone well and gives an overall polished look!

Since its a powder foundation it does feel a tad bit heavy on the face especially if you apply it using a sponge, for lighter coverage you can use a big fluffy powder brush. Also if you pile on this foundation I feel it will clog your pores so I prefer to apply it lightly using a brush rather than sponge.

I have been using it for over a year now and you can I have barely made a dent. I use it everyday for office or even when I am in hurry and I want a little bit of coverage. I have combination skin but this has not broken me out yet. Also if you have dry skin or dry patches moisturize well since this will cling on to dry patches and make them appear flaky!

MAC Studio Fix Powder comes in variety of shades and I am sure there is one for everyone! The shade NC42 is perfect for medium skin tones who have quite obvious yellow undertones like me. For reference I am NC40 in Studio Fix fluid and NC42 in MAC pro long wear foundation.

The staying power is really good and it stays on my combination skin for 6 to 7 hours after which you may need to touch up. It also controls oil for 3 to 4 hours and even after that I don't look oily but little shiny for which I use a tissue or an oil blotting sheet.

Round - Up

Pros:-
-> Sturdy packaging
-> Comes with a mirror and sponge applicator
-> Comes in huge variety of shades
-> Finely milled powder
-> No fall outs
-> Medium to full coverage
-> Fantastic pigmentation
-> Staying power of 6 to 7 hours.
-> Huge quantity so will last long long time

Cons:-
-> Expensive!
-> Feels a tad bit heavy on skin
-> Accentuates dry patches if not moisturized well

Rating:- 4.5 out of 5

Price:- 1700 for 15g (I believe now the prices have increased)

Overall Thoughts:-
Even though its quite expensive I totally recommend this to all oily skinned beauties especially if you are a working and if you want something which will give good coverage when you are in a rush! The quantity is huge so even if you use it everyday it will last you ages!

I hope the review was helpful, until next time take care and stay beautiful!

Love,

    1. Rachna NC in mac means yellow undertones and NW is for pink undertones..I am not very sure about C range..i guess it would be for more neutral undertones? Why don't you check with MAC SA?
